Evo 2018 date and lineup revealed

Co-founder of the Evolution tournament Joey Cuellar (Mr Wizard) confirmed the lineup of 8 games featured at Evo 2018, the biggest fighting game tournament of the year.

Have a look at the lineup:
– Street Fighter 5 Arcade Edition
– Tekken 7
– Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle
– Super Smash Bros. Wii U
– Super Smash Bros. Melee
– Injustice 2
– Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
– Dragon Ball FigherZ

Big hitters and fan favourites like Street fighter 5 and Tekken 7 return to the stage at Evo 2018. What is interesting but perhaps not surprising is the absence of Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. The game released to a mediocre response from fans in September 2017 and has not recovred.

Fans of crossover fighters will not be disappointed though, as Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ has replaced Capcom’s franchise. This reflects the popularity of the rising Arc System Works in fighting games as they go from strength to strength. Dragon Ball FighterZ released to widepsread critical acclaim in January 26.

Other games from last year’s lineup will also not be returning. These include Marvel vs. Capcom 3, King of Fighters 14 and Blazblue: Central Fiction. This means that SNK’s King of Fighters franchise will have no representation at the event.

Mr Wizard also announced that registration for the event will begin later this month on Feburary 15. So, if you’re thinking of signing up make sure to get in early!

The tournament will take place 3-5 August 2018 in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.
