[UPDATE] Rumors of Metal Gear Solid HD for PlayStation 4

Is Metal Gear Solid HD coming to PS4?

Metal Gear Solid is one of the most popular and well-known titles in video game culture. You can have never played one of the games and still recognize the iconic “Snake? Snake? SNaaaaake!” from dying. With top titles comes remakes. Now there are rumors of a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 4.

This was brought to light by Reddit User naninho205. They noticed that the Armature Studio website has changed their Metal Gear Solid HD page to include “PS4” in the platforms section. The title now states “Archived Game Content Coming Soon…” and a graphic of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has joined the other 2 faced on the image header.

Armature has since modified their page to remove the PS4 from the platforms list. Naninho205 managed to snag an archived version of the webpage on the off chance that would happen.

Armature’s first game was Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. The studio would go on to develop Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for PS Vita and 3DS, as well as the PS Vita port of Injustice: Gods Among us.  They’d be a fairly fitting choice to be behind porting the HD collection to PlayStation 4.

As always, keep in mind that these are just rumors and speculation. It’s equally possible some web-dev intern made a change without knowing how it’d be perceived. Just as its possible a PS4 HD remake might be happening. Until an official announcement is made, nothing is confirmed. Let us know what you think this all means.

UPDATE

Jonathan Zamkoff, head of business development at Armature Studios, has come out to state that this incident was nothing more than a typo.

Unfortunately this was simply a typo by one of our web developers and is neither a leak nor indication that the MGS HD collection is coming to PS4.  Or that Armature is working on any new MGS games.

It’s still possible that this is a cover up, but I’ll leave that conspiracy for someone else.
