A New GWENT Game Mode is Coming Soon + Trailer

No, it’s not Battle Royale

One of the benefits of card games is their ability to retain enjoyment after hours of gameplay. But like all games, they get stale eventually. CD Projekt Red is looking to resolve this. GWENT, the competitive card game based on the Witcher series, will be getting a new game mode soon.

Announced via a teaser trailer last night, we see a compilation of community members voicing their desire for a new game mode. Some of these are with screenshots of social media posts, while others were video footage of these members. The video ends with a man holding a card and wearing a smirk, followed by “Coming Soon.”

The video description tells is that Today (February 13, 2018) at 9 PM CET, CD Projekt Red will be live streaming on Twitch. Paweł Burza, Michał “Luigi” Dobrowolski and Maciek “Ostry” Ostrowski will appear in the live stream to release more details about the upcoming game mode. I’d have expected them to save this for when they attend this year’s E3.

Speculation has already begun as to what the new mode will be. If we looked at Hearthstone, one might expect a wildcard mode or an equivalent to Tavern Brawl. The video mentions the idea of an Arena mode, as well. The only reliable way of knowing will be to tune in tonight for the announcement

You can watch the CD Projekt Red live stream here. Stay tuned for an update as things develop.
