Everything Nintendo Announced in the March 8th Direct

We knew that Nintendo planned to make some announcements today. While we expected some mild content updates with Mario Tennis Aces leading the charge. What we got was far more hardcore. Here is everything Nintendo announced today.

SUPER SMASH BROS.


The long-awaited party fighting game is coming to the Switch! Featuring a massive roster of Nintendo characters, now including the Splatoon Inklings, expect to see this game later this year.

MARIO TENNIS ACES


The one thing we were expecting. Mario Tennis Aces will be released June 22 on Nintendo Switch. The game will feature over 15 game modes, local/online multiplayer, and publisher-hosted tournaments.

WARIOWARE GOLD


The wacky and fast-paced minigame game is coming to the 3DS. They call this one the “most packed” game yet.

DILLON’S DEAD-HEAT BREAKERS


Remember the 2012 title Dillon’s Rolling Western? Now the cool and composed armadillo gets the 3DS sequel he deserves.

MARIO & LUIGI: BOWSER’S INSIDE STORY + BOWSER JR.’S JOURNEY


Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story is coming to the 3DS, complete with a new expansion all about Bowser Jr.

DETECTIVE PIKACHU PRE-ORDERS NOW LIVE


The game that still feels like a fever dream, Detective Pikachu is now available for preorder. If you can lock one in before they’re sold out, then you’re guaranteed a copy come its release date of March 23.

LUIGI’S MANSION


First we got a spinoff game for the 3DS, now Nintendo is just giving us the original game. The classic GameCube title Luigi’s Mansion is coming to the handheld.

KIRBY: STAR ALLIES


Nintendo served up a quick look at the new Kirby game coming to the Switch, as a reminder that it will launch on March 16.

OKAMI HD


Clover Studios’ classic adventure game Okami is coming to Nintendo Switch in glorious HD. Comparable to the console and PC release earlier this year, expect the title this summer.

SUSHI STRIKER: THE WAY OF SUSHIDO


The exciting sushi game was previously announced for 3DS. Now we learn that it’s to be released on the Switch as well. It will be released on June 8, alongside the 3DS version.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER


New from Square Enix, this “2D” RPG features 8 characters, and is expected to release this summer for Switch.

CAPTAIN TOAD: TREASURE TRACKER


Originally a Wii U game, this cute puzzle game is coming to the Switch. this version will feature new locations based off of Super Mario Odyssey. The game launches on July 13.

CRASH BANDICOOT N. SANE TRILOGY


Rumors of this have been spreading, now it’s official. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will be released on Nintendo Switch on July 10.

SOUTH PARK: THE FRACTURED BUT WHOLE


The satirical sequel to the Stick of Truth, South Park is headed to the Switch.

DARK SOULS REMASTERED AMIIBO


To follow up on the Dark Souls Remaster, Nintendo has also announced the creation of a Solaire Amiibo. The fan-favorite character will finally be immortalized in small plastic. The game will be released on May 25.

TRAVIS STRIKES AGAIN: NO MORE HEROES


The nearly forgotten Nintendo IP is returning for a second game. This time boasting seven-different game genres. The direct showed us new gameplay.

LITTLE NIGHTMARES: COMPLETE EDITION


Little Nightmares is coming to Switch on May 18. Owners of the Pac-Man amiibo will also be able to use a Pac-Man costume, for some reason.

UNDERTALE


The indie RPG from 2015 took the world by storm. Now, albeit a bit late, it’s coming to Switch. No release date was given.

HYRULE WARRIORS: DEFINITIVE EDITION RELEASE DATE


The Nintendo rendition of Dynasty Warriors has a proper definitive edition. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition launches on May 18 for Switch.
